Before you hand it out

1

Managers go first

Take it yourself before you hand it out. Learn your own style and how it differs from your team's. Most training gaps start with a manager teaching the way they learn.

2

Set a 15-minute timer

That's plenty for 54 questions. Allow about 5 more minutes to score it.

3

Go with your gut

Answer with your first instinct. Don't overthink it. Quick answers are the accurate ones.

4

There are no wrong answers

It's not a test anyone can pass or fail. Say that up front so people answer honestly.

5

It's a preference, not a label

Most people are a mix. The highest score shows what feels most natural, not what someone can't do.

6

Use it for coaching only

Keep it out of hiring, reviews and discipline. Sharing results should be optional.

Training your team by style

The inventory was written for a classroom. Here's what each style looks like at the counter, in the yard and in BisTrack.

Visual

Show me

  • SOPs with screenshots and photos
  • Short screen recordings of the BisTrack workflow
  • Whiteboard the process before doing it
  • Color-coded quick-reference cards
Auditory

Tell me

  • Talk them through each step out loud
  • Have them explain it back to you
  • Pair them with a buddy who will answer questions
  • Recap in huddles and team meetings
Kinesthetic

Let me do it

  • Hands on the keyboard from minute one
  • Practice orders in a training or test company
  • Shadow, then do it while you watch
  • Learn the product in the yard, not from a list

Map your team

The last page of the PDF is a profile sheet. Use it as a team profile: one row per person, three scores each. Patterns jump out fast. If your crew is mostly hands-on learners and your training is a 40-page manual, you've found the gap.

The takeaway

The best training reaches all three: show it, say it, let them do it. Knowing your team's styles tells you where to put the extra effort.

The inventory is a tool for self-awareness and better conversations, not a scientific diagnosis. Research consistently backs mixing visual, verbal and hands-on methods for everyone to achieve the highest retention.
